WAPA International

What we do: WAPA International is a non-profit organization dedicated to combating the recruitment and use of child soldiers in armed conflicts and supporting their reintegration into stronger, more resilient communities. The organization works primarily in conflict-affected countries such as Colombia and the Democratic Republic of Congo by partnering with local organizations to fund reintegration programs. In northern countries, WAPA International conducts awareness-raising and advocacy campaigns aimed at preventing the recruitment of child soldiers and promoting their demobilization and reintegration. Key focus areas include healthcare and wellbeing, such as building maternity hospitals and providing psychosocial support through art therapy; education, ensuring access to schooling and vocational training; and micro-entrepreneurship, providing means of subsistence through allowances or in-kind support.

Location: WAPA International is headquartered at Rue de Rixensart 22, 1332 Genval, Belgium, with its registered office in Genval. The organization operates primarily in conflict-affected countries but maintains its administrative and advocacy presence in Belgium.

History: Founded with the mission to defend the rights of vulnerable children affected by war, WAPA International has grown into a dedicated team of 16 passionate employees. The organization has established important partnerships, including support from the Air France Foundation for projects such as sport therapy for former child soldiers in Colombia. WAPA International also facilitates fundraising campaigns through its ACT4WAPA platform to support its projects.
