Etopia asbl

What we do: Etopia asbl is a center for animation and research in political ecology, dedicated to promoting active and participative citizenship, social emancipation, and equality of rights. The organization develops educational and training programs collaboratively with its members and participants. It operates as a think tank bringing together ecological activists, researchers, trainers, and change agents to produce analyses, organize seminars, and publish studies and a biannual review that foster public debate on political ecology. Etopia also supports the ECOLO party through expertise, training, documentation, and archival services, while maintaining semi-autonomy.

Where we are located: Etopia is headquartered at Av. de Marlagne 52, 5000 Namur, Belgium.

Short history: Founded in 2004, Etopia was recognized as an association for permanent education between 2007 and 2011. Since then, it has developed a strong culture of community engagement and has become a key actor in political ecology and environmental movements in Belgium.

Organization & culture: The organization employs around 25 staff members who share core values of respect, solidarity, and innovation. The team works across community services, research, and education, striving to contribute to a sustainable and equitable future where every voice matters. Etopia animates a network of over 200 volunteer researchers from various disciplines, emphasizing collaboration and long-term impact beyond immediate political agendas.
