What we do: The Centre Hospitalier de Wallonie Picarde (CHwapi) is one of the largest hospital institutions in Wallonia, offering a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. With three hospital sites and a polyclinic, CHwapi provides comprehensive care to patients, including innovative treatments and advanced medical technologies. The hospital is recognized for its expertise in areas such as breast care, trauma care, endometriosis, obesity, pain management, and inflammatory bowel diseases. CHwapi is committed to excellence in patient care, research, and teaching, and is developing a new integrated health campus to further enhance its services.

Where we are located: CHwapi’s headquarters is located at 9, avenue Delmée, 7500 Tournai, Hainaut, Belgium. The institution operates three main hospital sites in Tournai: IMC (80, chaussée de Saint-Amand), Notre-Dame (9, avenue Delmée), and Union (51, rue des Sports), as well as consultation centers in Peruwelz (11, rue de Sondeville) and Frasnes-lez-Anvaing (Rue Haute 3).

Short history: CHwapi was established in 2009 through the merger of several healthcare institutions in the Tournai region. Since its creation, the hospital has developed a reputation for excellence in multiple medical disciplines and has continuously invested in modernizing its facilities. The institution is currently working on a major project to consolidate all its acute care services on a single, state-of-the-art site in Tournai, scheduled for completion by 2027.
