What we do: The Union of Cities and Municipalities of Wallonia (UVCW) represents all local authorities in the Walloon Region, advocating for their autonomy and promoting local democracy as established by the Belgian Constitution and the European Charter of Local Autonomy. UVCW supports its 262 member municipalities by defending their interests at regional, community, federal, and European levels. It provides advisory services, management assistance, training, and specialized publications to help local authorities fulfill their missions effectively.

Where we are located: The UVCW headquarters is located at Rue de l'Etoile 14, 5000 Namur, Walloon Region, Belgium.

Short history: Founded in 1993, UVCW has grown to become the uncontested representative association of Walloon municipalities. Its General Assembly comprises all 262 municipalities of Wallonia, each with one vote, ensuring strong representativity. Over the years, the organization has expanded its advisory, training, and communication activities to better serve its members.

Organization & culture: UVCW is a nonprofit association serving all local authorities in Wallonia, including municipalities, public social welfare centers (CPAS), police zones, emergency zones, intermunicipal companies, and public housing companies. It values solidarity, democratic dialogue, and continuous adaptation to societal and institutional changes, fostering a collaborative and dynamic environment.
