What we do: AF Belgium, also known as Ateliers François S.A. (AF Compressors), is a leading provider of comprehensive compressed air solutions for industrial applications. We specialize in the design, manufacture, and support of oil-free reciprocating compressors, with a particular focus on the PET bottle manufacturing market, where we hold a 60% global market share in high-pressure oil-free compressors. Our products are essential for industries requiring high-quality, contaminant-free air, including brewing, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and food processing. We serve a diverse international clientele, with installations in over 185 countries and more than 8,000 compressors in operation worldwide. Where we are located: Our headquarters is located at Chaussée de Tubize 485, 1420 Braine-l'Alleud, Belgium. In addition to our main production facility in Belgium, we operate world-class manufacturing centers in Kunshan (China) and Pune (India), supported by a global network of local offices, spare parts hubs, and specialized engineers.

Short history: AF Belgium traces its roots to 1870 in Liège, Belgium, where it began as Etablissements François, manufacturing pneumatic hammers for the mining industry. By the late 19th century, the company transitioned to producing high-speed steam engines, and later, reciprocating compressors for the coal and steel industries. In the mid-20th century, AF pioneered oil-free compressor technology with PTFE piston rings, meeting the stringent air quality demands of modern industries. Since the 1980s, we have focused on oil-free solutions, becoming a global leader in the PET blow moulding sector. Today, we install over 400 new compressors annually and continue to expand our international presence.
