What we do: MATRIciel is a Belgian engineering and consulting firm specializing in sustainable and circular building design. Our core mission is to enhance the energy and environmental performance of buildings throughout their entire lifecycle—from initial sketches to construction and renovation—working closely with architects and engineers. We focus on reducing environmental impact while maximizing occupant comfort, health, and well-being. Our expertise covers energy performance, renewable energy integration, building physics, circular economy principles, water management, biodiversity, and environmental certifications such as BREEAM, WELL, and GRO. We serve a diverse client base in sectors including tertiary, healthcare, education, defense, justice, and industry, both in Belgium and France.

Where we are located: Our headquarters is located at Pl. de l'Université 25, 1348 Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. This central location in the heart of a university town reflects our academic roots and commitment to innovation.

Short history: Founded in 2005 by researchers from the Architecture and Climate research unit of the Catholic University of Louvain, MATRIciel was created to bridge the gap between academic research and practical building engineering. Our ambition has always been to apply sustainable development principles pragmatically. Since joining the French Oteis Group, we have expanded our capabilities and geographic reach, reinforcing our position as a leader in sustainable building engineering in Belgium and France.

Organization & culture: MATRIciel is a medium-sized company with a team of around 18 to 20 passionate professionals. Our culture is built on collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing. We value the comfort of end-users and strive to make every project both economically viable and environmentally responsible. Our team is driven by a shared vision: to create buildings that harmonize human activity with nature, setting new standards for energy efficiency and environmental respect.
