Where we are located: Galactic’s headquarters is located at Place d'Escanaffles, 23, Escanaffles, Belgium. Our global footprint includes state-of-the-art laboratories and manufacturing facilities in Asia, North America, and Europe, allowing us to combine local market knowledge with international expertise.

Short history: Founded in 1994 in Brussels, Galactic quickly established itself as a pioneer in fermentation technology. By 1998, it became the world’s second-largest producer of lactic acid and lactates, exporting 80% of its production to more than 40 countries. Key milestones include the granting of a patent for a revolutionary lactic acid purification technology in 1998, the doubling of production capacity in 1999, and the creation of joint ventures in China (2002) and the United States (2005). In 2007, Galactic partnered with Total Petrochemicals to launch Futerro, a joint venture focused on biodegradable polymers derived from lactic acid.
