What we do: imec.istart is the first investor and supporting partner dedicated to scaling tech startups, primarily in Belgium. The program offers a 12-month business acceleration and incubation service that supports entrepreneurs during the early development phase of their tech startup. It focuses on assessing the feasibility of the business proof-of-concept, preparing the commercial launch of the first products, and establishing the startup for commercialization. Services include pre-seed funding (typically €50,000 for 6% equity), personal coaching, mentoring, access to technology and working facilities, and a broad network of corporate partners and investors.

Where we are located: imec.istart is headquartered in Ghent, Flemish Region, Belgium, with additional presence in Antwerp, Hasselt, and Liège. It also operates accelerator programs in the Netherlands (Nijmegen) and Italy (in partnership with Pariter Partners).

Short history: Founded in 2011, imec.istart has grown to become the world’s best university-linked accelerator, as ranked by UBI Global. Since its inception, it has supported over 290 tech startups, helping them raise a total of €650 million in funding and achieving 41 successful exits. The program is recognized globally for its impact on digital innovation and entrepreneurship.
