The Center for Microscopy and Molecular Imaging

What we do: The Center for Microscopy and Molecular Imaging (CMMI) is an integrated preclinical imaging facility providing comprehensive services to researchers and companies. Our services range from electron microscopy to in vivo animal imaging, covering the entire workflow: experimental design, sample preparation, image acquisition, analysis, and interpretation. We serve both academic and industrial partners, offering specialized training in imaging-related fields.

Where we are located: Our headquarters is located at Rue Adrienne Bolland 8, 6041 Charleroi, Belgium, within the Biopark Charleroi Brussels South.

Short history: Founded in 2011 as a joint initiative between the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and the University of Mons (UMONS), CMMI received financial support from the European Union and the Walloon Region. The center has since become a key player in supporting the life sciences sector in Wallonia.

Organization & culture: CMMI is a multidisciplinary team combining the expertise of about 15 permanent staff and around 70 researchers from its parent universities. We foster a stimulating environment that encourages innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence.
