What we do: Euroconsumers is the world’s leading consumer cluster uniting five national consumer organisations representing over 6 million people across Italy, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, and Brazil. We focus on innovative information, personalised services, and the defence of consumer rights. Our activities include product testing, consumer advising, collective redress initiatives, and advocacy for EU policies that improve daily consumer life in areas such as digital rights, privacy, product safety, sustainability, and financial services.
Where we are located: Our headquarters are in Brussels, Belgium. We coordinate activities across our member organisations in Italy (Altroconsumo), Belgium (Test Aankoop), Spain (OCU), Portugal (DecoProteste), and Brazil (Proteste).
Short history: Founded in 1990 and originally based in Luxembourg, Euroconsumers has grown into a nonprofit international utility entity. It is part of the BEUC umbrella network, the European Consumer Organisation, and has been instrumental in landmark consumer protection actions, including class action lawsuits and advancing consumer rights at the European level.
Organization & culture: Euroconsumers operates as a nonprofit cluster with a collaborative culture that connects multiple national organisations. It values consumer empowerment, transparency, and constructive dialogue with stakeholders to address consumer challenges. The organisation leverages advanced digital tools and data analysis to enhance consumer engagement and market impact.
Recent developments: Euroconsumers has recently implemented the Sherpa project in collaboration with Deloitte and Salesforce to streamline customer engagement and marketing activities, enhancing its digital transformation and consumer service capabilities.
