What we do: APEO Solutions is a Belgian biotechnology company specializing in the research, development, and commercialization of innovative biopesticides based on natural essential oils and botanical extracts. Our core products are bioherbicides and biofungicides designed as sustainable, biodegradable, and safe alternatives to conventional chemical pesticides such as glyphosate. These solutions are tailored for both professional agriculture and home gardening markets, supporting a transition towards cleaner, more environmentally friendly farming practices. Our expertise is rooted in over a decade of scientific research at the University of Liège, and we serve industries including agribusiness, horticulture, and consumer goods.

Where we are located: Our headquarters is located at Pass. des Déportés 2, 5030 Gembloux, Belgium. This location places us at the heart of one of Europe’s leading agri-biotech hubs, close to academic and industrial partners.

Short history: APEO Solutions was founded in January 2021 as a spin-off from the Integrated and Urban Phytopathology Laboratory (LPIU) at Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech, University of Liège. The company builds on more than ten years of university research into the use of essential oils for plant protection. Since its inception, APEO has successfully raised significant funding, including 3.7 million euros from private investors and 4.6 million euros in public support, enabling rapid growth and product development. The company has expanded its team to 14 employees and has submitted registration dossiers for its products in both the USA and Europe as of June 2024.
