What we do: The Power Systems and Markets Research Group (PSMR) at the University of Mons focuses on developing optimal solutions for energy systems and electricity markets. We integrate advanced approaches like artificial intelligence and game theory to address contemporary energy challenges. Our research covers smart grids, energy markets, renewable energies, energy storage, and power system modeling.
Where we are located: Our headquarters is located at Boulevard Dolez, 7000 Mons, Belgium.
Short history: PSMR was established in early 2020 within the Electrical Power Engineering Unit at UMons. It is led by Prof. François Vallée and has been involved in significant projects like ADABEL, focusing on data analytics for a secure energy supply during Belgium's energy transition.
Organization & culture: Our team consists of 19 members, including experienced researchers and doctoral candidates. We value collaboration, integrity, and scientific rigor, fostering a dynamic environment where creativity meets scientific discipline.
Recent developments: PSMR supports numerous PhD theses on topics such as renewable energy communities and hydrogen's impact on power systems.
