Overview Les Grignoux, asbl
http://www.grignoux.beAbout us
What we do: Les Grignoux is a social economy cultural enterprise that manages thirteen cinema screens across four sites in Liège and Namur: Le Parc, Churchill, Sauvenière, and Caméo. We specialize in art-house and independent cinema, offering the best recent films in original language with subtitles, as well as classic cinema, school screenings, and special events such as premieres, debates, and concerts. Our cinemas also host art galleries and offer hospitality spaces including cafés and a brasserie. We run a wide educational program, 'Ecran Large sur Tableau Noir', for schools throughout Wallonia-Brussels, and organize around fifty concerts annually. Our mission is to provide an alternative to mainstream culture and to make quality films accessible to the widest possible audience.
Where we are located: Our headquarters are at 9 Rue Soeurs de Hasque, 4000 Liège, Belgium. Our cinema sites are located in Liège (Le Parc, Churchill, Sauvenière) and Namur (Caméo).
Short history: Founded in the late 1970s, Les Grignoux began as an association focused on continuing education before quickly moving into cinema management. In 1982, we took over the management of Le Parc cinema in Droixhe, Liège. Over the years, we expanded to include Churchill, Sauvenière, and Caméo in Namur, growing from one to thirteen screens. The organization has become a major player in alternative cinema in Wallonia, known for its commitment to independent and European films.
Organization & culture: Les Grignoux employs around 150 people across all sites and functions. The association operates on principles of self-management and participative governance. We foster a collaborative, open, and socially engaged culture, welcoming diverse teams and valuing accessibility, inclusion, and cultural diversity. Our venues host around 2,000 visitors daily, reflecting our strong community presence.
Recent developments: In 2022, Les Grignoux celebrated its 50th anniversary with special events and programming across all sites, reaffirming its role as a leading cultural institution in Wallonia.
