Iles de Paix

What we do: Iles de Paix is a Belgian development NGO founded in 1962. We work with citizens to uphold the rights of farmers, peasants, and rural communities through agroecological transition. Our mission is to promote integrated rural development, strengthen local development management, improve living conditions, and boost family economies. We operate in Benin, Burkina Faso, Uganda, Peru, Bolivia, and Tanzania, supporting sustainable food systems and empowering agricultural communities. In Belgium and Luxembourg, we raise awareness and mobilize citizens around the importance of supporting sustainable food systems.

Where we are located: Our headquarters is at Rue du Marché 37, 4500 Huy, Liège, Belgium. We also have operational teams in our intervention countries across Africa and South America.

Short history: Iles de Paix was founded in 1962 by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dominique Pire. The organization has celebrated over 50 years of action, focusing on sustainable development and the empowerment of rural populations. Our approach is rooted in dialogue, self-help, and technical support, aiming for lasting change in the communities we serve.
