Hygea

What we do: Hygea is an inter-municipal environmental management company responsible for waste collection, treatment, and valorisation across 24 municipalities in the Mons-Borinage-Centre region of Belgium. With around 450 employees, Hygea ensures the daily management of household and packaging waste, supporting the quality of life for nearly 500,000 citizens. The company operates public cleaning services, manages recycling depots, and implements sorting and recycling processes in close cooperation with local authorities and regional partners such as Fost+ and Val I Pac.

Where we are located: Hygea’s headquarters are located at Rue du Champ de Ghislage, 1, 7021 Havré, Hainaut, Belgium. The company serves municipalities in the Mons-Borinage-Centre region, with operational sites and recycling depots spread across its territory.

Short history: Hygea was created in September 2011 following the merger of the Public Cleaning Service of IDEA and the inter-municipal ITRADEC. Since its foundation, Hygea has focused on improving public cleaning services and waste management, ensuring continuity and quality for citizens in the region.
