About us

What we do: The Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB) is the national authority responsible for cybersecurity in Belgium. It implements and enhances the national cybersecurity policy by coordinating efforts among government departments, private sector entities, and scientific communities. The CCB safeguards Belgium's critical infrastructure and ensures resilience against evolving cyber threats. It operates as the national CSIRT (CERT.be), detecting, analyzing, and alerting on cybersecurity incidents. The CCB also coordinates Belgium’s cybersecurity strategy, including the Cybersecurity Strategy 2.0 (2021-2025), and acts as the national focal point for EU cybersecurity frameworks and investments. It promotes awareness and transparency through initiatives like Safeonweb, targeting citizens and organizations to improve cybersecurity hygiene.

Where we are located: The CCB is headquartered at Rue de la Loi 18, 1000 Bruxelles, Belgium.

Short history: Established in August 2016, the CCB was created to respond effectively to cybersecurity incidents impacting Belgium. It evolved from earlier government initiatives and emergency response teams, consolidating expertise under the Prime Minister’s office. Since its founding, the CCB has positioned itself as a key coordinator within the Belgian federal administration and on the international cybersecurity stage.

Organization & culture: The CCB employs approximately 99 professionals who work collaboratively across teams grounded in integrity, innovation, and transparency. The organization fosters a culture of continuous learning and adaptation to address complex cybersecurity challenges. Its values emphasize teamwork, effective communication, and raising awareness among information system users.

Recent developments: The CCB continues to enhance Belgium’s cybersecurity posture amid rising cyber threats, coordinating EU cybersecurity investments and supporting the development of a €20 million European Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence in Transinne. It actively participates in international cooperation and promotes practical cybersecurity measures for citizens and organizations.
