What we do: Openchip & Software Technologies is a European full-stack semiconductor company specializing in energy-efficient, high-performance system-on-chip (SoC) solutions based on the open RISC-V architecture. We design and produce advanced accelerators for artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and high-performance computing (HPC), integrating hardware, software, and system co-design. Our solutions are optimized for sectors demanding speed, reliability, and security, including aerospace, manufacturing, mobility, and scientific research. By enabling scalable, secure, and sustainable computing platforms, we support Europe’s digital sovereignty and drive innovation in genomics, climate science, astrophysics, energy, and advanced simulations.

Where we are located: Our central operations hub is in Barcelona, Spain. We operate a multicultural team across several European countries, including Spain, Italy, France, Poland, Germany, Belgium, and Ireland, with a strong presence in Barcelona as our headquarters.

Short history: Founded in 2021, Openchip began with initial public funding and entered its operational phase in 2023. The company has rapidly expanded its team and R&D activities, forming an executive leadership from top global firms. In 2025, Openchip employs over 200 professionals, mostly in research and development, and is recognized by the European Commission as an Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) in microelectronics.
