Short history: Founded in 1837 as the École Provinciale des Mines du Hainaut, the Faculté Polytechnique de Mons was established by Théophile Guibal and Adolphe Devillez, both graduates of the École Centrale de Paris. The institution quickly became a reference for engineering education in Belgium, evolving from a two-year program for practical training to a five-year academic curriculum leading to the title of Civil Engineer. In 2009, the faculty became part of the University of Mons (UMONS), consolidating its position as a leading engineering school.

Organization & culture: The faculty is known for its strong academic tradition, close-knit teams, and commitment to scientific curiosity and practical application.
