About us

What we do: Soil Capital is a mission-driven company specializing in regenerative agriculture and the low-carbon transition of farms. We work closely with farmers to improve soil health and profitability by adopting sustainable, regenerative farming practices. Our flagship service is Europe’s first certified carbon payment program, launched in 2019, which measures and certifies farmers’ carbon footprint reductions and increased soil carbon storage. This program rewards farmers financially for their ecosystem services and climate action, helping build resilient, low-carbon supply chains primarily in the food and fiber sectors.

Where we are located: Our headquarters are in Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, at Bd Baudouin 1er 25. We operate internationally with a strong presence in France, Belgium, and the United Kingdom.

Short history: Founded in 2013 by three farming and finance professionals, Soil Capital has grown from an independent agronomy firm to a leader in regenerative agriculture. Key milestones include launching the first certified carbon payment program in Europe in 2019 and becoming a Certified B Corporation in 2022. We have advised and managed over 200,000 hectares of farmland across 15 countries and four continents.

Organization & culture: With a passionate team of 81 employees, Soil Capital fosters a culture of innovation, collaboration, and environmental commitment. Our values center on supporting farmers, promoting sustainable agriculture, and driving systemic change in the food sector. We emphasize transparency, scientific rigor, and inclusivity in our work.

Recent developments: In 2023, Soil Capital successfully closed a new investment round to scale its operations and enhance its regenerative agriculture programs, including the Beyond Carbon initiative. To date, we have engaged over 1,800 farmers and distributed €14.7 million in payments, reinforcing our leadership in agricultural carbon finance.
