What we do: RESA is the main Distribution System Operator (DSO) for electricity and gas in the Province of Liège, Belgium. We own, operate, and maintain medium- and low-voltage electricity networks, as well as medium- and low-pressure gas distribution networks, serving both professional and private customers across 73 municipalities[3][5]. Our core mission is to ensure reliable, efficient, and safe energy distribution, including public lighting and the fulfillment of public service obligations. RESA is deeply involved in the energy transition, investing in the modernization, digitization, and strengthening of regional grids to support increased electrification and renewable energy integration[1][5].

Where we are located: Our headquarters is located at Rue Sainte-Marie 11, 4000 Liège, in the Walloon Region of Belgium[2][6]. We are present throughout the Province of Liège, with a network spanning over 14,500 km for electricity and 4,150 km for gas[3].

Short history: RESA was officially founded on June 29, 2012, but draws on a century of expertise in energy distribution in the Liège region[1][6]. Over the years, we have evolved from a traditional utility to a modern, innovation-driven network operator, committed to meeting the challenges of the energy transition and supporting the local community[1][3].

Organization & culture: RESA employs around 900–950 professionals who work around the clock to maintain and improve our infrastructure[3][6].
