Overview ECSO
About us
What we do: ECSO is a not-for-profit, industry-led organisation that serves as the European Union’s key partner for the cybersecurity contractual Public-Private Partnership (cPPP). It brings together over 300 stakeholders including large companies, SMEs, start-ups, research centres, universities, end-users, operators of essential services, clusters, associations, and public administrations across EU Member States, EFTA countries, and Horizon Europe associated countries. ECSO fosters collaboration between public and private sectors to strengthen Europe’s cybersecurity ecosystem by supporting research, certification, and market development initiatives.
Where we are located: ECSO is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, at Av. des Arts 46, 1000 Bruxelles.
Short history: Established in June 2016 as an ASBL under Belgian law, ECSO was created as the contractual counterpart to the European Commission to implement Europe’s unique Public-Private Partnership in Cybersecurity (cPPP). Since then, it has grown to become the unique European cross-sectoral and independent membership organisation for cybersecurity, representing a broad range of stakeholders.
Organization & culture: ECSO operates with a small team of about 15 staff members who facilitate collaboration through working groups, task forces, and initiatives. The organisation values cooperation between public and private sectors and aims to build a resilient and strategically autonomous digital Europe. ECSO’s culture is collaborative and mission-driven, focusing on fostering innovation, networking, and policy implementation in cybersecurity.
