About us

What we do: Iscal specializes in the production of sugar from sugar beets, emphasizing sustainable and socially responsible manufacturing. Their sugar mill operates under the principle "Nothing is wasted, everything is transformed," applying this philosophy throughout the production process. The company produces various types of sugar, including crystal, powdered sugar, and decorative granules, serving industrial clients and retailers.

Where we are located: The headquarters of Iscal is located at Chaussée de la Sucrerie 1, 7643 Fontenoy, in the Walloon Region of Belgium. The company operates its main sugar factory in Fontenoy, near Tournai, which is one of the newest and most efficient sugar factories in Europe.

Short history: Iscal Sugar was founded in 2003 through the merger of several sugar factories, including those in Moerbeke, Frasnes, Fontenoy, and Veurne. Its name derives from the Latin names of the rivers Yser (Isera) and Scheldt (Scaldis), which supply the factory’s beet. The company’s roots trace back to the Moerbeke Sugar Factory, established in 1869. Iscal is part of the Finasucre group, a family holding company founded in 1929, which has expanded through acquisitions and mergers in the sugar industry.

Organization & culture: Iscal employs approximately 150 collaborators, whom they refer to as "collabor'actors," highlighting a culture of active participation and responsibility. The company values long-term relationships with growers and customers and is committed to social responsibility and sustainability in its operations.
