Overview LCT UNamur
https://www.unamur.be/sciences/chimie/lctAbout us
What we do: LCT UNamur is a theoretical chemistry laboratory specializing in the development and application of quantum chemical methods. The lab focuses on predicting and interpreting the linear and nonlinear optical properties of molecules, polymers, supramolecular assemblies, and molecular crystals. It also studies the optical properties of open-shell systems such as radicals and multiradicals, simulates vibrational spectra including VROA, SFG, hyper-Raman, and resonant Raman, and characterizes structural, reactional, optical, electronic, and magnetic properties of polymer chains. Additionally, LCT investigates molecular properties related to chirality.
Where we are located: The laboratory is headquartered at Rue de Bruxelles 61, 5000 Namur, in the Walloon Region of Belgium.
Short history: LCT UNamur is part of the University of Namur, which was founded in 1831. The lab is integrated within the Chemistry Department and the Namur Institute of Structured Matter (NISM), contributing to multidisciplinary research projects aimed at designing new materials with advanced properties.
Organization & culture: The research team includes academic staff and principal investigators such as Benoît Champagne and Vincent Liégeois. The lab operates within a university environment that values scientific rigor, collaboration, and innovation in theoretical and quantum chemistry. The University of Namur hosts over 6,600 students and emphasizes quality education and ethical commitment.
