SPW (service public de Wallonie)

What we do: The Service Public de Wallonie (SPW) is the public administration responsible for implementing policies established by the Walloon Government in Belgium. It serves as the primary interface between regional authorities and citizens, managing a wide range of public services to enhance the quality of life in Wallonia. SPW operates through eight main entities covering areas such as budget, mobility and infrastructure, agriculture and environment, land and housing, social action, economy and employment, and taxation.

Where we are located: The SPW headquarters is located at Place de la Wallonie 1, 5100 Namur, Belgium. It also has around 11 premises distributed across Wallonia and decentralized offices in Brussels, supporting its regional presence.

Short history: Founded in 2008 through the merger of the Ministry of the Walloon Region (MRW) and the Ministry of Equipment and Transport (MET), SPW was created to harmonize public action and improve service quality. It expanded its responsibilities significantly in 2014 and 2015, consolidating its role as a key regional public service provider.

Organization & culture: SPW employs approximately 10,000 people working in central departments in Namur and decentralized offices throughout Wallonia and Brussels.
